The Audacity of Hope

Politics aside...I am so inspired by our president elect. The vision that he has of a unified nation, of people stepping up their involvement in their community and government, and for moving this country forward has increased my patriotism ten fold.
I look forward to what is to come and I know that I we all will have a role in it. Its not about one man. Its about what we can all do together.
YES WE CAN.

I totally didn't vote for him, but I feel bad for him because there's no where for him to go but down since the whole world is in LOVE with him! And there's kind of not much he can do about our country except fix it before he can make it better.

I think Susie needs to open her eyes to change that can occur when one has such an effect on humans from every walk of life. Perhaps positive, unification of a now eight year divided country? If only the last "leader" could have had "the whole world in love with him".... What would our situation be today?
lots o' love,
SV

He is set on a bit of a pedestal and he is just a man. But I think his biggest success and the greatest asset to the US is his ability to mobilize people to action. I think we will be seeing a new kind of leadership but mostly a new kind of involvement of US citizens. I think it will take more than just a man to fix our country, it will take all of us.

Yikes, I didn't realize I'd strike such a nerve. If the last leader had the world in love with him, they would have fallen right out of love because he still would have led us into two wars and everything would still have come crashing down around us. All the analysts are saying there isn't much that can be changed, just fixed. If he has the power to move the people, that sounds fabulous. But what people did he move in Illinois? What change did he bring there? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm being curious. I have never heard him speak, only read his talks, perhaps that's why I'm not part of "the whole world in love with him"? Can I quote myself? Seriously, if he could bring the country into a new prosperity, stability, and popular with the rest of the world, and get us out of Iraq without causing an implosion there, and bring us away from the brink of bankruptcy, and give us all affordable healthcare, that sounds great, no one in their right mind would be against it.

let's hope he keeps the fire burning. quite a task ahead of him. i agree that if he can get people to ACT, he will do a country a great service. but it's my experience that people (meaning the general population of the US, not obama) are mostly talk and not a lot of action. i saw this first hand as the enrichment leader. "oh yes shelley, we're so excited for a new format and new activities and we'll contribute and change and be better", yet they never put their money where their mouth was so to speak. same with lots of things, even in the gospel. we go to general conference, get inspired, desire to change, then go home and live our lives the same we always have. hopefully people will want this change bad enough that they will act and make it happen. if not, it'll just be a lot of good ideas on paper that never really came about.

I didn't vote for him either, and I don't think he was more qualified than McCain, but I have to say that I am glad he is so popular with the media. I am so sick of hearing all of the negative stuff that I am happy they love Obama and hopefully some positive news reports will boost our 401K. : ) I am really glad that he is being so proactive in the months before his presidency becomes official. I pray that he keeps all of his promises, this of course would be a first for a politician. lol.
